The Pixies

The Pixies are an American alt-rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, consisting of frontman Black Francis, guitarist Joey Santiago, drummer David Lovering and bass player Paz Lenchantin, who replaced Kim Deal.  Formed back in 1986, the band released their debut album, ’Surfer Rosa’, in 1988, but it wasn’t until their follow up album, ’Doolittle’, one year later, that the band hit the mainstream. Going on to become the band’s only platinum-selling album, ‘Doolittle’ saw them break into the charts for the first time, at #98 in the Billboard Hot 200, and a much higher #8 in the UK Album Chart.  After releasing two more records; ‘Bossanova’ in 1990, and ‘Trompe Le Monde’ in 1991, the band split in 1993, after Francis faxed the other members telling them the band was over. They later reformed in 2004, with Kim Deal leaving in 2013. The released a new album, ‘Indie Cindy’ in 2014 and are set to release their sixth album, ‘Head Carrier’ on September 30.  The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the USA and Europe. In 2016 they have already played London's O2 Academy Brixton, as well as Cork’s Live At The Marquee and Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens.  Pixies have announced UK shows for winter in support of their new album, ‘Head Carrier’, as well as a European tour.
