- After producing for the likes of Das Racist and Azealia Banks, Brooklyn native, Le1f, has been on the push since 2012 to make his name known. 2013 saw him drop 2 mixtapes and now to kick off 2014 he has released Hey, a 5 track EP.

Hey, with its 4 new cuts plus his hit Wut, which was originally released on his last extended player, Dark York, collectively mix up Trap and EDM flavours and suffuses them in a dancehall space. The elements all swim around with their soft timbres, within grand reverbs and it results in club-ready tracks with deep kicks and crowd pleasing drops.

Le1f's lyrical content is presented with the usual bluff and bluster, the sexual prowess and the champion ego in general that comes with a emcees. But being a fringe artist, he presents a refreshing challenge. You don't have to sift through hood slang on urban dictionary, or the deal with male chauvinism. His experience as a homosexual within New York, within Rap provides refreshing content. Which further serve to bolster his confidence not only as a new agent but also maintain Rap's disdain towards the larger system. And with this, his flow is impressive and versatile, within the 5 tracks he goes in hard with double-time and sits back with a contemptuous slur. Depending on the track, Le1f will switch between sung and spoken hooks. And they're all party tracks so it is hook-heavy.

Hey is an engaging and entertaining EP. A sampler to kick off the year. There is word out that Le1f is working on his debut album and if 2013's productivity is anything to go by, It should be here soon.
